Led Zeppelin tribute

There are two types of tribute band: the genuine fans playing for the love of the music and the cynical semi-pros hacking their way round the circuit. FRED ZEPPELIN defiantly fall into the former category and having Robert Plant in their audience last year was a Zeppelin fan’s dream come true. However this has proved to be only the beginning of the Fred’s associations with the real Zeppelin. A visit from John Bonham’s brother Mick at The Kings Highway in Quinton was both exciting and worrying for the band. They need not have been concerned about causing offence, as Mick was delighted that Zeppelins music was still being played. As he said himself “How many of today’s bands will have tributes to them 15 years after they have split up?” Mick even presented drummer Steve Black with personal photographs of John and a signed poster, a kind gesture that was appreciated by all the band. In retrospect it was then almost inevitable that Jason Bonham should be next to attend a gig, but it was still a surprise when he came to The Stage in Worcester . The man who had hinted he wouldn’t play Zeppelin material with another band, stepped up at the end of the night (tempted perhaps by Steve’s Ludwig ‘John Bonham’ kit) and ran through thunderous versions of Bring It on Home and Celebration day.

The Band

During the first 8 years the band have been together, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant has seen Fred Zeppelin three times.
