Peter and The Penguins

Description

In Peter & the Penguins three "generations" of Norwegian musicians have gathered round the early sixties- and Merseybeat sound. Rune B. Johnsen (drums/ back up vocals) and Stig Joeraholmen (bass) constitute the band\'s hard swinging rhythm section. In earlier days these two have damaged drum skins and broken bass strings, and young girls\' hearts, in Norwegian bands like Cosmic Dropouts and Weld. The latter obtaining national stardom in receiving the musical award, Spelemannsprisen, for best record of the year in 1994. Eyvind Lindberg, former member of Norwegian Wood and Winterland, is lead singer and plays Rickenbacker 6/ 12 and acoustic guitars. Last, but not the least, Fredrik Hagen, former Kwyet Kings, handles the lead guitar and sings back up. Peter & the Penguins presents original material, and some obscure covers, with the early sixties\' distinctive character; cheerful and energetic pop-rock, tight harmony singing, and jangling guitars: "Where the f... have I heard this before?" _
