Description
During the first 8 years the band have been together, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant has seen Fred Zeppelin three times. This of course being the biggest thrill and complement the band could ever receive. It must also assure any Led Zeppelin fans who are a little apprehensive about attending a Fred Zeppelin gig. John Bonham’s son Jason also attended a gig and jammed with them on stage, a memorable night for both the band and audience. In fact it may be worth bringing a camera to a Fred Zeppelin gig as you don’t know who might be standing next to you, recently Magnum’s front man Bob Catley was in the audience, and Whitesnake’s guitarist Mel Galley came on recommendation from Robert Plant “Thought I would come and see you, as Robert said you were brilliant”. They are a Tribute band, not a clone band, and resist dressing up in 70’s gear and silly wigs like contenders on ‘Stars in your Eyes’. They leave that to the cabaret artists. Among their achievements so far, the band has been featured on Central TV, performed to a crowd of over 15,000 people at Derby’s out door Rock’n’Blues Festival, and recently was invited to take part in a film called ‘Large’. The four members of Fred Zeppelin are real fans, and formed ‘The Fred’s’ out of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelins music. As their name suggests the band do not take themselves too seriously, they know the praise belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones and Bonzo.
